The Battle Isn’t Yours

And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, an ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Chronicles 20:15

In our everyday lives, while on our journey with God, we often face what seem to be insurmountable odds. Some people often think that once they become a Christian that things will become easier.  However, that isn’t the case.  We are to stand firm in faith that ALL things, whether good or bad will come together for us because we love God. Jesus, who became flesh so that He could be an example for us, did not escape suffering (although he could have chosen to), so why should we think we are going to have lives that are free from trouble?  In the Bible Jehoshaphat was told to not be afraid, this isn’t your fight.  However, you can go ahead and take position but stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Basically I can understand your fear but don’t be afraid, I will go out and fight for you.  Just stand still and let me do it.

Think about it, as humans, we don’t make the best decisions all the time, especially under pressure.  If the battle is yours, you are going to be in trouble.  If the battle is the Lord’s you don’t have to fight, just take position.

When it seems like everything is falling apart all around you and that you are surrounded by armies; realize a few things:

You can’t do it on your own, and you’re not meant to.

You have no power without God.

Your victory is in your praise and in your willingness to obey.

Don’t worry about fighting.  Take position and stand still.
